The Heartwood/Burlington Collection

Our Heartwood Collection is designed for customers looking for a contemporary, slightly Art Deco look for their furnishings. The Heartwood Collection’s basic design is inspired by Vermont Furniture Designs’ Mission Collection, but with a softer, rounder look. Legs and the undersides of tops have rounded lines for a solid, yet elegant appearance which coordinates with many decorating styles.

Our Burlington Collection's design is derived from our classic Heartwood lines, and is available in all models. The Burlington is distinguished from its parent by squared corners and edges.

Our Heartwood and Burlington lines are now available in Black Walnut and Hard Maple. Frequent requests for these species and lighter and darker options led us to make this change. Most dealers will special order these species, although some keep a few pieces from stock.

Many customers have told us that it is difficult to understand the differences between our Heartwood line and our Burlington line when viewed on the web site. The photos below will help.

Basically, both of these lines are identical in dimensions and configurations. The only difference is in the edge treatment. Heartwood has a heavily rounded leg edge and underside of the tops. Burlington is square edge all around.

This makes Heartwood a softer looking and slightly more stylized product, although both fill all the same needs.
